"You have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear."

"Good night unto you all."

I've started a new blog. =)  Let me know if you want the URL.

I almost forgot about our agreement, hehe.  Thanks for the reminder. Big smile*

Three hours ahead doesn't matter- dinner is on me. ;)

I woke up a few minutes before my alarm clock was set to ring.  I blinked at the time, rolled over, closed my eyes, and let my mind wander as I entered the place between waking and sleeping.

He opened the door and stepped outside.  I slowly followed after him.  As I neared the door, he extended his hands and helped me get out.  My legs wobbled as I stood up straight.

"Yeah, it's so hard to stand up on wobbly legs," he said as he stretched and watched me try to balance.

I took two steps and swayed side to side.  I placed my hand on the hard surface next to me to steady myself, but in heels, I had a hard time standing still.

"Here, I'll carry you to your car, " he told me as he put his arm around my waist.
"What?" I asked, unsure of what he just said.  I nodded about 15 feet away. "My car is right there."
"I know."  His arm was still around my waist.  "Hop up."
"Oh, ok."

I hopped into his arms, and he caught my legs.  His muscles didn't strain under my weight- he was strong enough to hold me.

"You weigh, like, nothing," he told me as he effortlessly carried me to the driver's side of my car.  My whole body tingled.

Once there, he slowly set me down.  He kept his arm around my waist.
"Thanks," I told him, my smile getting bigger.
He smiled back mischievously and pulled me in for a passionate kiss.  Because of his height,  he bent his neck down while I craned my neck up to meet him halfway.  A few moments later, with our lips still touching, I was standing on the balls of my feet, marveling at how wonderfully small I felt standing in front of him.

He took a step back and picked me up.  My legs wrapped around his waist, and my arms encircled his neck.  He silenced my sudden laugh with a kiss.

While he carefully let me down, I smiled sheepishly.  He bent down for a few more goodbye/goodnight kisses.  Afterward, he took a deep breath and looked at me with smiling eyes.

"Have a safe drive home," he said.  As he walked away, he blew me a kiss.

And then, there was a loud noise.  It was my alarm clock.

NO! my thoughts screamed as I was being pulled back into the waking world.  Not yet!  With a heavy sleepiness, I was leaving that transitional place against my will, and I was fighting a losing battle.  No, no, no, I pleaded to no one in particular.  Wait...please...not yet...his eyes...what is the color of his eyes?

"Wilt thou be gone? It is not yet near day:
It was the nightingale, and not the lark."

My alarm clock was getting louder, telling me to get up.

"It is the lark that sings so out of tune,
Straining harsh discords and unpleasing sharps."

With a loud groan, I reached over and hit the clock until it stopped.  I cursed the morning, my daytime obligations, and anything and everything with an alarm.  I sat up and let out a sharp breath.

I can't remember, and I've been wondering all day- what is the color of his smiling eyes?

"I want you to notice when I'm not around."

The normal work day is from 9am-6pm.  Because everyone on my team is on salary, no one has to clock-in their time.  So, people show up and leave the office around that time frame, give or take 15 minutes.  When people arrive a little later or leave a little earlier, no one gives it much thought.

A while ago, I arrived 45 minutes "late".  As I passed by my neighbor's cubicle, I said a quiet good morning, trying not to draw too much attention to myself.  While I was putting my things away and setting up my laptop, I heard him shift out of his chair and walk over to my cubicle.

"Did you get stuck in the whole traffic fiasco this morning?" he asked as he watched me set up.
"Yeah, traffic was awful.  There were two accidents close to each other, so it was stop-and-go for a long time."

I wondered how he knew about the traffic b/c he comes from the opposite direction.  I didn't think he heard about it on the radio b/c he had been coming in early for a while to finish up some work before a deadline.

"I checked the traffic report online," he told me, giving me a smug smile.  "Something just wasn't right.  It was too quiet this morning.  I didn't hear any laughing or anyone looking for candy.  There was no hi-chew smell in the air."  He laughed and headed back to his cube.  "It was a serious traffic advisory. You weren't the cause of it, I hope."

   "No!  I was not!"
"Good.  I checked the traffic a couple of times this morning- I haven't seen it this bad in a while."

Despite his teasing, I was happy that he noticed I wasn't there.  Also, while it was very simple, he even checked the traffic report to see if the freeways I was using were particularly busy that morning.  I like knowing that there are people who notice when I'm not around and who will "look" for me.  Then again, I'm pretty easy to find. ;)

I'm a daydreamer, and my overactive imagination contributes to my constant daydreaming.  I'll be lost in thought, dreaming of what could be and what never will be.  Sometimes, if I'm lucky, a variation of my thoughts comes true.

Lately, I've been surrounded by news of happy couples, and it is wonderful to see pictures, listen to what they're going through, and take part in the festivities.  Coworkers and friends are getting married, getting engaged, and dating.  A few days ago, as I was walking back to my cubicle from a morning meeting, I thought, Wouldn't it be great to walk back to my desk and find a bouquet of flowers waiting for me from a special someone?  As I approached my cubicle and sat down, of course, there were no flowers, just stacks of papers and other work-related items.  I was embarrassed that I was hoping to find flowers on my desk, so I pushed that thought out of my mind for the time being and went back to work.

The hours passed by uneventfully, and it was one meeting after another.   After my last afternoon meeting, a few of my coworkers and I were walking back to our cubicles.  As I rounded the corner, I chastised myself for my earlier thoughts and told myself that I needed to face reality.  I entered my cubicle, but suddenly stopped and starred at what was next to my laptop.

"There's something on my desk," I said aloud.
My coworker across from me took the bait.  "What's on your desk?"
   "A cupcake."

Confused, I approached my desk, sat down, and inspected the cupcake.  It was chocolate with white frosting.  Seeing no note, I said, "Who would leave me a cupcake?"  My coworker in the cubicle next to me suggested my XS coworker.

My XS coworker?  I haven't spoken with him in a long time, except for the occasional greeting in the big break room.  I walked over to his cubicle to ask him about it/thank him, but he wasn't there.  Instead, there was a note pinned to his chair that said he would be working at a different location for the rest of the afternoon.  So, I emailed him to thank him, and the cupcake was in fact from him.  How thoughtful~  Maybe I'm special to him.

I daydreamed about flowers, but I received something just as sweet. =)
